OCIA for Adults

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a process developed by the Catholic Church for prospective converts to Catholicism who are above the age of infant baptism.

Candidates are gradually introduced to aspects of Catholic beliefs and practices. The basic process applies to adults and children who have reached catechetical age.

Adults preparing to become Catholics participate in a faith formation program that lasts, depending on needs, from six months to over a year. They normally celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.

“…Learning from Fr. Collins and taking the journey with my fellow Catechumens and Candidates has been incredible.

I was trying to explain that we were all God’s children that Jesus was our Lord and brother.  That he was my brother.  In an instant, I looked in his eyes and it struck me. They were no longer words.  He is my brother.

The journey has brought me the realization of family and not only are we equal we truly are brothers and sisters.

Every day I continue to be amazed at God’s grace.”
