Valerie Shondel

Valerie Shondel is the Director of Music at The Church of St. Paul the Apostle. She directs the St. Paul Choir and the St. Paul Chamber Ensemble and oversees the Young Adult, Spanish Music Ministries and Men’s Choir. She is the principal organist for the church. Ms. Shondel also coordinates music for the St. Paul concert series and Visiting Voices Program. Valerie Shondel earned degrees in Piano Performance and Musicology with a minor in harpsichord from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She continued with doctoral studies at New York University and organ studies with Harriet Dearden. Valerie has held faculty positions at Wake Forest University, Greensboro College and Eastern Music Festival. She was also involved in Arts Management with The International Society of Bassists, The Greensboro Symphony, Kindermusik and The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. Prior to coming to St. Paul’s, Ms. Shondel was organist at the Community Church of Smoke Rise for 19 years. A highlight of her career was to perform as organ soloist at the Cathedrale de Notre Dame in Paris, France. Valerie Shondel is a member of the New York City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Daniel Ficarri

Daniel Ficarri is a young organist and composer studying at The Juilliard School with Grammy Award-winning organist Paul Jacobs. An engaging performer, Ficarri recently appeared in WQXR’s Bach Organ Marathon, The Florida Orchestra’s Brahms: A German Requiem, Chelsea Opera’s Puccini: The Man and His Music, Lincoln Square’s Winter’s Eve Festival, and the Hudson Valley Singers’ J.S. Bach’s The Saint Matthew Passion. This year, his concert season will include a solo recital at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, the fourth-largest church in the world. An avid composer and arranger, Ficarri premiered his arrangement for piano and organ of Guilmant’s Organ Sonata No. 1, Op. 42 in Lincoln Square last year with pianist Anna Han. His Prelude in D Major for Organ was also premiered in Times Square by organist David Ball. Currently, Ficarri works as Organ Scholar at The Church of St. Paul the Apostle, where as part of his duties he oversees a concert series featuring organists from The Juilliard School which he founded in 2015 - 'Sacred Sounds at St. Paul’s.' Ficarri previously worked as Organ Scholar at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale, New York, under the direction of Dr. John King. Watch Ficarri play on YouTube.

Luisa Munster

Colombian Soprano Luisa Fernanda Munster is well known for her beautiful lyric voice and exquisite musicality. A cantor for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark and the Diocese of Paterson, she has been heard as a soloist with the choirs of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart and with the New Apostolic Church. 
After her early training as a violinist, Ms. Munster continued her studies at Rutgers University, the Universitat Mozarteum — Salzburg, Austria (under Gudrun Volkurt & Norman Shetler), the Conservatorio di musica "A. Pedrollo" — Vicenza, Italy and most recently with tenor Marcello Nardis in Rome. She has been seen in recital in Tallahassee, FL, with Tribeca Opera Company in New York, NY, as well as, performing at the InFondi music festival of Fondi, Italy. Ms. Munster continues to perform as a featured soloist throughout the Northern NJ/NYC area, including making her company debut with Opera Theatre of Montclair, NJ in February 2016. Notably, Ms. Munster also placed as a national semi-finalist in New York Lyric Opera's 2015 annual vocal competition and as a semi-finalist in New Jersey State Opera’s 2016 Alfredo Silipigni vocal competition. She has also been selected to participate this summer as a Studio Artist with Angels Vocal Art opera program in Los Angeles, CA.

On Broadway, Joey has conducted and played piano for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, the 2015 revival of Gigi, and the 2012 Revival of Annie. NY Theater: The Band Wagon (City Center), The Music Man in Concert (Signature Theater/ Transport Group). National Tours: La Cage Aux Folles, A Chorus Line, White Christmas, The Wedding Singer, The Wizard of Oz & Joseph. Symphonic Conducting: National Tour of Australia starring Anthony Warlow and Faith Prince that included sold out performances at the Sydney Opera House. He has conducted and accompanied for TV’s Jane Lynch & George Hamilton and Broadway’s Christopher Sieber, Jessie Mueller & Laura Osnes. Joey holds a BM in Music Theater Accompanying from Shenandoah Concervatory. He is the Artistic Director for the Buck Hill Skytop Music Festival that takes place in the Pocono Mountains each summer.
